The average cost of car insurance varies by business.

Car insurance premiums are determined by a variety of criteria, including your driving history, location, vehicle, and demographics. They're estimating the likelihood of you filing a claim in the future and adjusting your premium appropriately.

Each element is handled differently by each insurer. If you have bad credit, one insurer may charge you 10% extra for your insurance, while another may charge you 40% more. You might get a 20% discount with one provider and a 5% discount with another for being claim-free in previous years.

As a result of all of this, rates vary greatly from one person to the next. This is why the company that gives your friend the best deal may not be the best deal for you.
